I have to wonder about the career trajectory that ends you up as a Longfellow impersonator!
That was great to listen to, I haven't heard/read it in a long time. It immediately made me feel acutely how we've maybe robbed kids of the great, inspiring stories of the American project. It's important--crucial--to see the shortfalls and the great human weakness, but the goals and the hopes are so... noble, and we stop developing towards them if we throw away the foundation.
We are unable to balance, maybe people can't do that. It's either point out every single fault or blind patriotism. I thought I remembered in the poem "The British are coming!" as he rode, maybe that was something else.

You know it's his hobby. Does he do Hiawatha?

I'd like to hear him do Self-Reliance.
