What i did today:

I started these this morning and they came out of the oven about an hour ago. Two have raisins and dried cherries, one is plain. You wouldn't want to take a cholesterol test for a couple weeks after eating some but they sure are pretty aren't they? I am bragging, it's not that hard but it's something i can take pride in.

What you are feasting your eyes on is a loaf of Boheimian Christmas Braid that i made on the holiday.  I checked many sources including my '1950's era Betty Crocker book and some online searches. All seem to agree that the traditional Boheimian Holiday bread is rich in eggs & butter with raisins & almonds inside, and, looks somthing like this. Betty, suggested pecans and cherries on top, the pecans at least, aren't authentic and i didn't want candied cherries, so i used dried cranberries. Does tradition matter? Would my ancestors recognize this?
