A day to celebrate! Last fall people on our street were called to a meeting by the city. Being some of the last residents in the city to still have septic system. The county - the state EPA and the Federal EPA have been pushing for the replacement or installation of sanitary sewers. The city had determined that it was not practical to run sewers, most people here have lots more than 100 feet wide with houses just as far back; still that called for replacement of aging septic systems. From the meeting it looked as if ours would need replaced just because it was old and did not meet modern standards. So, i put off calling for a test for months because i really didn't want to spend more than $12,000 on a new system - who would? We got a second letter from the county last week and i finally called. I explained how good the soil is here and that there is never any overflow from the system. They ran a dye through it and watched for signs for an hour and well, all is well!

Later on i accompanied #1daughter to the university up the street and helped her look for books she will need. She wrote down prices and will compare what she can find online. Still, she spent almost $200 on three books!
