We have rain! For the first time in two weeks; that may not seem like much of a stretch in some places, but here it's dry. The news said we're over 7" short for the year. It's been raining several hours, slow and steady; like in the movies. I still have a few tomatoes and three pumpkins; the vine that carries the largest is dying, though it is starting to ripen and there's always the fear of a deer attack.

Ah, the quintessential Fall garden. Mine's kind of pathetic--other people are even telling me it's pathetic :(

Pumpkins are such an investment.

The wonderful guy who's done some work on the house was here--he said, "Something's eating your tomatoes." Huh. Like I don't know that. It's too late to fight. An entire July between 100 and 110 basically took the spirit out of everything.

P.S.

I watched an interesting lecture on Catal Huyuk on YouTube, Ian Hodder I think. I haven't followed the site in a while, very closely--after it re-opened I used to read its website for several years.

I thought maybe all the weird stuff had been found in the 60s--wrong! The lecture has a lot of archeologist-type wild conjecture about what was going on, but if we ever have a way a way of figuring out what was REALLY going on, I have a feeling it will look like a dystopian nightmare.

Do you get comment notifications? I never know.

I read The Tombs of Atuan. Thank-you. It's on my book page.
