I worked eight hours without seeing a single body from work. I nearly can say that i saw no one, unless you count people 300 ft away or as i drove down the road. About four hours into it, i decided i don't like this.

I could probably get a job at the university that is literally next door to where i work. I worked there 20 years ago and obviously i'm much older. The money would be more; but do i want to start over at 62? Working with a bad crew, and i could end up with anything, would be worse than alone.

And am i ready to cut ties?

That does sound a bit melancholy, although as you said, going to work with a bunch of jerks or slackers would be worse...IMO! I'm kind of into solitude. Can you try out the other place w/o leaving where you are now?

Don't cut ties too quickly. She says.
