In a surprise move winter settles in early this year. While we are not getting dumped on the way Buffalo is it has gotten cold. It seems a few days ago temperatures were in the 50's and flirting with 60, now it's 30's and projected 20's at night.

The nameless outdoor cat has to be pushing 14 or 15 years old and looking pretty good for that. I now have three shelters for her in the yard plus another safe spot to escape coyotes. Sher now spends most of her time in the first shelter i built that is in the middle of the backyard under a collapsed picnic table. It's probably not the warmest. I built a new shelter in the barn that is probably the warmest but i go in and out of there and when i have to start the snow blower, it's five feet from her bedding.

I'll bet the other stray cats refer to her as "that rich cat."

Yes they probably do but, she's earned her wealth. We've had other strays come and go over the years but none of them have been able to figure out how to cultivate (groom?) me or even figure out that there is food and water put out everyday. She's smarter and any cat can use the shelters in the yard but none do.
