Sunset over Cuba, November, 1990.

As the ship slid past the Cuban coastline, people came out to watch. The sun dropped behind the clouds into night; scattered lights appeared. Cuba! So much has been said about it in our lifetimes; there it was quiet, fading into black, even more mysterious. The cold war just ended, but not here in Cuba. Were we a little close to shore? Why the fuss? Wasn't there just people settling in for their night?

Those dark clouds look ominous. And you caught the sun's rays shining through! A mysterious, tropical place. I am curious as to why you were there. Holiday? Work? Don't answer if you don't want to :)

Catching the light like that in a photo or painting it, is fabulous and breath taking.

When all the elements come together, you just have to see them and have the camera ready.

I don't understand why we have fooled with Cuba for all these years. It's time to stop, allow the country a chance to reconnect with so many of it's citizens here on our shores.

Feels like a grudge held for a lifetime between two old people.

Stunning image. Really sticks with you. :)

It's at the point now that no one wants to be "the one" to undo it all. No one really cares about the issue.

Thanks for the kind words!
