Sunset over Cuba, November, 1990.
As the ship slid past the Cuban coastline, people came out to watch. The sun dropped behind the clouds into night; scattered lights appeared. Cuba! So much has been said about it in our lifetimes; there it was quiet, fading into black, even more mysterious. The cold war just ended, but not here in Cuba. Were we a little close to shore? Why the fuss? Wasn't there just people settling in for their night?

Feels like a grudge held for a lifetime between two old people.
