We got rain and storms last night and we've moved into the dewy part of August. I've always equated this with the beginning of the turn of the seasons. Somewhere around the middle of every August, the nights become very dewy. All of a sudden the grass is soaked every morning; even now after 2 AM; a walk outside leaves soaked footwear.

I had laser surgery performed on my other (left) eye yesterday. The same issue with clouding behind the replacement lens. For a few days I will have floaters that look like I'm walking into a swarm of flies, but it should dissipate.
As long as my retina doesn't detatch.

It's funny, right before I read this I went out early in the morning and I felt, "There is Fall--not here yet, but around the corner." Just the way the air felt, maybe the light. Not that it isn't still burning hot!

Every year, sometime in the second half of July, one evening I'll feel a wind that says, "Fall is coming." Now we usually have wind in the evenings (the Delta breeze) and any time in the summer it can be quite cool, but somehow before that, even if it's a very cool wind, it doesn't feel the same. It comes off the ocean; but that wind in late July, seems to feel a little different, come from a slightly different direction--maybe more north? Or maybe I'm just imagining it. But every summer, there it is.

I hope the surgery worked well. Quite disheartening to hear you can have clouding after cataract surgery--I thought that was supposed to take care of it...

I am not in any way mocking when I say that, that line is poetic and sounds like the opening of one of those 'coming of age' books they used to write.

Do not deny your inner witch; I had that when I was 'coming of age' and I lost it for a long time, trying to get it back; to listen again.

My step-grandmother was a wonderful strong woman and when I was teenaged, she would ask me "What's the summer going to be like?" What's the winter going to be?" and without thinking I'd answer her. I believe in her ancestral Ireland she would have been considered a Wise Woman. She knew I had something too. So, if it's there, embrace your inner wisdom.

My eye seems fine; less post-surgical floaters than the right eye, but this wasn't as bad to begin with. It's been almost 10 years since I had the cataract surgery and my since retired, doctor told me before the procedures that it wasn't unusual for clouding to return. Sure enough, within a year it started. This clouding happens behind the implant and requires laser blasts to break it up. But this is supposed to be it. Other problems now?
