I witnessed Kathleen's uncontested dissolution of a marriage of more than two decades yesterday. It took place in a zoom meeting at my kitchen table. I was a witness, mostly to affirm she was who she was. I was also asked what i knew. I simply said that Kathleen had told me that they did not get along.
It was a marriage that needed to end and it ended quickly. Her husband was on a phone line and answered a few questions; he could have made it difficult; he's more than capable of that, but i'll give him that much credit. The whole process went so quick it was like watching an unassisted triple play; a momentous event in baseball; something that happens so quick yet looks so undramatic that it carries a sense of disappointment. Bing, bang, boom, he got three people out and he barely took a step.

The therapist said that Kathleen honored me, to have me as her witness and support for this.
Talking to her outside before she left. I asked if i could ask a personal question and i felt she knew what was coming; because she started pointing to the deer lounging around the yard. I just turned and said "Bob?" She said she didn't know, they spend time together, he's able to deal with her son, who is a chip off dad's block. Thankfully she recognizes it as too soon.

I feel untethered; six months ago, i would have said there are two creatures on earth that need me. One passed into wherever two weeks ago and the other got a divorce at my kitchen table and i think she's going to be alright and i think she doesn't need me either.
