I've been throwing away things, recycling when possible; not enough but it's a slow process for me. I took up "poetry" even though i can't read poetry but, it suited me. Of course it was terrible; most of what i had left has been recycled. This is the last piece that i can remember writing from about 20 years ago. I reread it and i am not ashamed to present it - i'm not saying it's good, it's the least worst thing i wrote.
This was one of several drafts.

Like sugar when it's gone,
like 36 hours without sleep

(these two lines are crossed out)
Like a tree in a storm,
a balloon out of air.

Like ice on a bridge,
like a skyscraper in N.Y.

(Like) the egg on top a wall,
like thick corn syrup.

Like love at 16,
a kite without a tail

Like ashes on the water

Like the whales that are left,
like love at 42.

I like it more each time I read it.

Why are you throwing them away??? Get them back!
