Across the street, July 2010.

I went with a modified black & white, it evokes old logging camps. I'm hesitant to alter a photograph; i don't know why, didn't i hear, that the great Ansel Adams, would stand over his prints in the developing tray, rubbing the paper to darken a section of the picture? And, does any of us see a picture the same way? I have to think, with all the variation in the human species, that one person's red looks different then another's.

Anyway, these are replaced ties, stacked like cord wood. They may sit here for years, someone may come along and try to burn them; still it's a step toward environmentalism the by the rail road, who in past times, would toss the creosote saturated lumber into ditches alongside the tracks.

In sepia, i don't think it works as well:
