my good friend ( i feel like i know him personally!) joebanks has some great icons/userpics. i know would like to borrow some of his icons, but have no idea how to transfer a pic from one account to another.

There is probably a simpler way, but here is how I do this sort of thing.

Right click on the icon you want -

Choose "Save As" and save to the folder of your choice.

Then go to your userpic area of the account you want it saved into - and upload it to that account from that folder.

Go to the userpic you want; right click on it. Choose "Properties"-- this should bring up an information window which includes "Address," which is the exact URL of your picture, e.g. http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/79036297/8653384...

Go to the "Upload A New Userpic" field in the account to which you want to add the picture. Choose "From URL"; enter the address there and it should upload directly from one account to another.
