What if the lottery gave away 1,000 millions instead?
Or, what if they lottery gave away 10,000, $100,000 prizes?
Or again, can you flip that, 100,000, $10,000 prizes; would that be met with critism, accusations of socialism?
I bet they would sell more tickets.

And with so many more winners, there are going to be a lot more aggrieved losers. It's one thing to blow off some guy in Vacaville winning a hundred million dollars. A lot harder when five of your neighbors get 10,000 dollars and you don't.

How would i have felt if my coworkers had won? It doesn't matter, that's the way it works.

I guess i didn't say where this started; There is a lottery pool at work that I didn't know about and wouldn't join in anyway. My superviosr incuded me and my co-workerwho dances under lightneing for the big drawing. That was nice but, i wouldn't have felt left out if they had all won and i hadn't been included. They bought 20 tickets and gave the two of us copies. Sunday i checked the numbers and out of the 20 ticket, 120 numbers, they had matched six but all on different tickets.

Well, yes. That is the way it works, although, if you've ever watched Oprah, you know that... ahem... that's not exactly how it works even when the lottery only pays off here and there. My sense is, if it started paying off in what amounts to substantial stimulus checks all around you, you (meaning I) might begin to feel a bit resentful.

Anyway, I'm really sorry you didn't win, so I could crawl out of the woodwork.

You would be near the top of my list. I really wouldn't let a lot of money ruin my life. I wouldn't be as generous as i'd like but i would make an effort. If i won a million or two i might keep working because a million doesn't mean as much as it once did.
