Back in 1976 i ordered from an ad in "The Old Farmers Almanac" this star chart, probably for something like a dollar. I used it many times in the intervening years, and then somewhere i stopped looking at the heavens quite so much.

I like the old yellowed paper :)

I have one somewhere. #2 daughter's boyfriend got it for me after my one from high school wore out. I hardly ever use it, though, and can hardly tell one constellation from another!

That's pretty cool, but I have no idea how to read that.

You would take it, find the direction you're facing and hold the chart up above you, turned to the months listed in the outside circle. The center of the chart is North.

It makes sense if you have the chart in front of you.
