Like all summer's here, this one is turning out to be unusual. It started out hot with a couple of heat waves*. Now it seems every week seems slightly cooler than the last and there's been no shortage of rain. It's only the beginning of August and August can be hot but the general trend seems to be the other way. The rest of the world seems on fire, not here.
It seems I bought two cherry tomato plants instead of one; the tag is somewhere under all the foliage but i know it's supposed to be a beef type tomato. They are the sweetest cherry tomatoes i've ever grown. Last time we were in Amish country, i bought some Tomato Jam; it's actually good on things with cheese or eggs.
*Turns out a heat wave, like a garlic clove, is a variable thing. In Northern Ohio, the Weather Service defines a heat wave as three consecutive days of 90 or above temperatures.
