They've taken a break, made the downstairs livable and they have some bills to pay. The upstairs actually is in good shape except that the previous owner but down plywood on the floors. Why? So, they don't want to do anything up there until they either cover it over or remove it.
IDK,they planned for a small wedding and then invited everyone on earth. They wanted to have a potluck, we had that at our wedding, but we had probably around 50 people; you can only plug in so many slow cookers. I think they are hoping for big returns, which is the worst idea.
Yes IMO no amount of stuff collected offsets the trouble and expense of a big occasion like that, unless you're dying for a big occasion. No one needs more stuff! Unless it's cash in the pillowcase, like in "The Godfather." That could work.
