This time it's supposed to be rain and some ice while the snow is going north of us. But this is the third massive winter storm in four weeks. 2 inches of rain is forecast for today, there is still plenty of snow on the ground that has the consistency of a snow cone and when it melts along with the rain, there will be plenty of flooding. It's 56 degrees right now and will be in the mid-teens tonight. We had been smug in the Midwest - or wherever Ohio is located, that climate change was going to swirl around us; fires in the west, hurricanes on the east coast, tornadic destruction in the middle but not us! well it seems our thing will be massive winter storms and rain storms instead of showers in the summer.

How many times do I have to tell you? MINI ICE AGE.

Read Kim Stanley Robinson.

No-- in the West it's heat and drought. The mini ice age is only in eastern North America. This is a real global warming model, that KST used in his books. Unfortunately they're not his best books.

Yes, I seem to remember saying The Seven Storey Mountain, his original autobiography which made him famous (kind of) is a good story and a period piece. He left out some important details, however! I accumulated many of his books over the years and he's a good writer and still a respected spiritual writer in many quarters but he was kind of a jerk-- a major jerk. Being a monk didn't seem to help with that.

You can recommend more books for me! My top favorites in the last year or so were Laurus and Piranesi. I just finished rereading Laurus and I'm glad I did.

What? You recommended a great one just last year-- I still think about it. And I paid money for it!
