I made smoked cheese today. It has to mellow a week or two before it's ready. It was a cool wet day, good for that sort of thing.
I planted potatoes on the weekend. Always an interesting project.
i have a couple examples of my niece's descent into white, Christian Nationalism. Maybe a couple years ago she would post memes with something like "Here is the Lord's Prayer Facebook doesn't allow it to be posted. And there it was and my brother took this one up
"You posted it"
and she'd reply "But it's not allowed, Facebook won't allow it"
and he'd say "There it is".
Forward to a few days ago; she posts a short video or gif of Biden caressing a small boy. My wife, Cheryl points pout that this is footage of Biden comforting his grandson after his father's (Biden's son) death. My niece says something like "That's not how I see it'.
Then yesterday she has something up about a Muslim cashier at a Target making a Christian man hide his cross. Just stupid stuff that anyone could write and a segment of the population would believe.
It's my 60th birthday today. don't say it! I can't think of a bigger "So what' than this.
EDIT: My daughter called me up and her 4th grade class sang Happy Birthday to me and i teared up; they'd been asking her all week if they could do it.
My co-worker threw me a small party at work and these small things together make me feel relevant.
