:( So you didn't win--it was just lulling you into complacency for a while. This security nonsense is getting totally out of control

I'm in a mess now where one of my main email accounts is suddenly requiring two step authentication and since I don't own a bunch of devices I'm kind of screwed. And no, I'm not going to spend $50 for a device that does nothing but generate codes. That's my food budget for the month!

Personally, I think it has less to do with security, and more to do with Google harvesting your phone number.

Well, I was hoping for that, but so far it's not in the protocol. If I can ever get these clowns to answer their tech support phone again, I'm going to ask.
