I remember the days when crops grew right up to houses. Actually, where I grew up, every single house that I can think of had a fence and garden. But I did see some houses like this in places. I think sugar cane was commonly grown quite close to houses.
There is a house just up the road where the kikuku (grass) grows right up to the house. She has pot plants on the front porch. It's a wonder the cows don't eat them. It's a cattle stud. Quite handy if you are too busy farming to garden. She doesn't have to mow the lawn, lol :)
For some reason this looks almost like it was taken by the light of the moon. The very low vantage point makes it look like it is looming over us. Creepy!
